The hostel is located in a breath-taking historical building in one of the most central areas of the city at the one and only eight-angle square of the city called ’Oktogon’, which is a world heritage recognized site.
Find your way to us via public transport is easy :
- Western railway station (Nyugati pályaudvar) is 5 minutes
- Eastern railway station (Keleti pályaudvar) is 15 minutes
- Oktogon metro station is one minute away.
We are number 22 Terez krt. We have a small black sign on the wall facing the street, next to the pharmacy / drugstore. Walk into a court yard through the entrance gate, walk upstairs to the first floor and then turn right.
The hostel is in the middle of all the hot spots:
- Nightlife spots
- Shops (including grocery shop across the road)
- Restaurants (Hungarian & Western)
- Markets
- Cafés
- Clubs
- Theatres and cinemas.
Wherever you want to go in the city, it is within a stone-throw. In the neighbourhood you will find ATM machines, currency exchange, post office, pharmacy, pubs, night clubs, movies, restaurants and shops of all sorts.
The location of our hostel is just simply ideal for:
- Big-site doers: reach Hero's square, National Gallery, The House of Terror, Museum of Fine Arts and St. Stephen's Basilica (10 minute walk), the Opera House (3 minute walk), Buda Castle (20 min by public transportation), the Duna river bank (7 minutes by underground)
- Time travellers: the hostel actually is located at Andrássy Boulevard with its fascinating 19th century architectural design that is part of the world heritage. As soon as you step out of the hostel door you start to experience what it feels like to be part of the world heritage.
- Pub crawlers and party faces: both trendy and subculture pubs as well as night bars in the centre of the city's entertainment area such as Liszt Ferenc tér, Jókai tér and Nagymezo utca - soho (2 minute walk). Put your finger on the city's pulse.
- Bath-goers: the biggest and probably the most beautiful thermal spa in the country the Széchenyi thermal spa is 10 minutes away by underground
- Joggers: enjoy the green nature in the City Park (10 minutes by underground) and the Margaret Island (10 minutes by tram)
- Swimmers: go for an early morning swim in the brand new swimming-pools of the Margaret Island built for the European Swimming Championships
- Walkers: walk along the river bank and enjoy the breath-taking view of the city's bridges, the Buda Castle, the hilly side of the city (Buda) and other historical treasures (10-15 minutes by public transportation)
- Architecture admirers: check out the old Jewish district, the city's 19th century buildings, old forgotten and shabby backyards, and famous buildings such as the Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western station) designed by the Eiffel company. This is all within a 10 minute walk.
The Continent's first metro line built at the end of the 19th century is practically 30 seconds away from the hostel door, while the blue metro line with Western station is just two minutes away by tram. Most important of all, Home-made is located on the Great Ring (Nagykörút), which gives Budapest its most particular feature.
